Caribbean Princess Cruise Ship Details and Amenities July 11, 2010
You won't be able to resist the exotic islands, the first class shows, various dinner options, and the variety of entertainment and of course "Movies Under the Stars" which lets you watch hit movies on a Times Square-style video screen as you lounge by the pool.
The amenities aboard Caribbean Princess are astonishing and dining options are no exception. There are no less than twelve eating options plus room service!
Princess Cruises has an array of dining options!
There are three dining rooms on Caribbean Princess; all have ceilings with twinkling lights and tasteful, Caribbean-themed artwork.
- The Palm -Traditional dining with two choices of seating: typically early at 6:00pm and late seating at 8:15pm.
- Coral and Island -Anytime dining means you are not limited to eating at a fixed time or place on the ship.
- Specialty restaurants Crown Grill and Sabatini's serving up exquisite local specialties and gourmet favorites are available for a nominal charge.
- Cafe Caribe and Horizon Court - offered lots of variety, featuring a different themed buffet, fresh fruit. Sail Away Seafood.
- The English pub lunch menu, that's newly available in the Wheelhouse Bar.
- Trident Grill (burgers, hot dogs and fries)
- Prego Pizzeria
- The International Cafe -
- fresh-from-the-oven chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter and chocolate-chocolate chip cookies, specialty coffees, fresh baked cookies and pastries, panini and tapas. Across the way is Vines, a wine bar offering wines by the glass, seafood, artisan meats and cheeses.
- Balcony Dinner/Breakfast --
- an all-inclusive evening featuring cocktails, fresh flowers, champagne and a deluxe four-course meal including delicate sweet Caribbean lobster tail -- all served by a member of the Princess dining staff on passengers' private balcony.
- Chef's Table --
- Tour the ship's galley to enjoy a full evening of memorable sights, tastes and conversation hosted by the executive chef. While many passengers are able to enjoy galley tours during the quiet off-hours, the Chef's Table experience takes interested diners behind the scenes during the height of dinner preparation where they'll also enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a special multi-course tasting dinner paired with selected wines in the dining room.
Caribbean Princess was the first Princess ship to offer "Movies Under the Stars," a huge flat panel projection screen showing near first-run films outdoors next to the pool. This was such a hit that the concept has been spread to other large Princess ships sailing in the Caribbean. It is truly spectacular and something worth seeing.
Public Rooms:
Three main entertainment venues include a well-equipped two-story theater for big Vegas-style musical revues, a second one-level show lounge for smaller-scale entertainment such as hypnotists and singers (this room has major sightline problems caused by structural columns and a shallow pitch in the seating), and the travel-themed Explorer's Club, with murals of Egyptian and African scenes and a band, variety performer, or karaoke nightly. There's also the clubby, old-world Wheelhouse Lounge, offering laid-back pre- and post dinner dancing in an elegant setting, as well as a woody sports bar and a wine bar selling caviar by the ounce and vintage wine, champagne, and iced vodka by the glass.
The Club Fusion Show lounge, presents production shows, cabaret, comedians and magicians. At night it doubles for a secondary disco for those who get light-headed scaling the heights to Skywalkers. Other major entertainment venues are the Explorers Lounge with its African-Egyptian decor for cabaret acts.
Skywalkers,
the real disco, is suspended between two pillars protruding high above the stern, fully 18 stories above sea level. The moving sidewalk you ride up to Skywalkers is one of the most breathtaking views on any ship, and one that many passengers probably never discover.
Crooner's Bar and Churchill's loungeprovide Caribbean Princess passenger's room to meet and greet fellow cruisers or an intimate spot for two to get re-acquainted. Recently, Princess added massive piazza-style atrium to the Caribbean Princess -- a feature that has been hugely popular on the line's three most recent ships (Crown Princess, Emerald Princess and Ruby Princess).
Princess Theater seats 750 passengers and spans two decks.
The Libraryhas an excellent and well-organized selection of some 1,200 hardbacks and books-on-tape to listen to while seated in a comfy easy chair. Other amenities include an average-size card room; an Asian-style spa and fitness center with its own pool and sun deck; an internet center with 25 computer stations and, by cruise ship standards, moderate rates by the minute; a major casino with 260 slots that I paid no heed to; and a nest of shops on two levels along the atrium's perimeter.
Outdoor enthusiasts love Caribbean Princess cruises. From tennis on the ship's netted Center Court to tee times on the world-class golf simulator available at CyberGolf. Passengers can get in a great workout under the caresses of a warm tropical sun. In addition to its state-of-the-art gym.
